A dollhouse only comes to life once it has furniture. Many people therefore ask whether to buy furniture separately or whether it comes with the house. In Crateit Roomies the furniture is part of the set. Here is an overview of what is in the box in the four houses, and how the children can colour the furniture themselves.
What is the furniture made of?
The furniture in Crateit Roomies is made of wood, just like the houses. It clicks together without glue or tools, and it arrives unpainted. An assembly guide is included, so you can build the furniture step by step.
Kitchen: Breakfast in Bed
Breakfast in Bed has a kitchen on the ground floor and a bedroom upstairs. The house is 48 cm wide and 52 cm tall and has 152 pieces. In the kitchen you will find a kitchen island with a sink and oven, a fridge freezer, a dining table with four chairs, a stand mixer, a toaster and a microwave. The cabinets have drawers that can be opened. Upstairs there is a bed, two bedside tables, a wardrobe, a mirror, a dressing table stool and a bookcase. Camilla lives in the house.
Living room and playroom: Couch & Crayons
Couch & Crayons is a dollhouse with a living room and a playroom. It is 48 cm wide and 52 cm tall and has 145 pieces. The living room has an armchair, a coffee table, a fireplace, a piano, a guitar stand, a television, a floor lamp and a goldfish, among other things. The playroom has a bunk bed, a toy bench, a children's bookcase, a table with chairs and a rocking horse. Emma lives in the house.
Bathroom and bedroom: The Bubble Nest
The Bubble Nest has a bathroom on the bottom floor and a bedroom upstairs. The house is 24 cm wide and 52 cm tall and has 78 pieces. Nine pieces of furniture and the figure Max are included: a bathtub, a shower, a toilet, a sink, a stool, a bed, a chest of drawers, a slide and a skateboard. The chest of drawers has a design that can be flipped, so the room can be arranged all over again.
Office and balcony: The Cloud Office
The Cloud Office has an office on the ground floor and a balcony with a parasol upstairs. The house is 24 cm wide and 38 cm tall and has 94 pieces. In the office there is a desk, a computer, a printer, a bookcase, an office chair, a chest of drawers and a floor lamp. On the balcony there is a parasol, two armchairs, a garden table and a planter. Thomas lives in the house.
Scale and size
Many people search for dollhouse furniture by scale, for example 1:12. We do not state a scale, so we will not guess. Instead the dimensions of the houses are on each page. The furniture is made for the Roomies houses. Whether furniture from other brands fits, we cannot say, so measure before you buy.
Colour the furniture yourself
Everything comes in unpainted wood. You can colour with acrylic markers, coloured pencils or paint, and you can add a new layer on top of the old one. Crateit's own markers come in two tip sizes, 1 mm for details and 3 mm for large surfaces. See the markers. To read more about choosing colours, see how to choose between paint and markers.
Furnish together
Let the children decide where the sofa goes. There is no right way to furnish, and the furniture can be moved as often as the child likes. One simple trick is to furnish one room at a time and let the child tell you who lives there and what they are doing today. If there are two children, each child can have their own room.
Keep building
Roomies is a modular system where the houses can be stacked on top of each other. That means you can start with one house and build on with a new one when the child wants another kitchen, living room or office. To read more about choosing a house, see wooden dollhouse: how to choose the right one.
As a gift
The furniture makes the dollhouse a gift that can be used straight away. For a five year old you can find ideas in Christmas gift for a 5 year old, and for a six year old see Christmas gift for a 6 year old. Crateit Roomies is recommended for ages 5 to 9 and may be used from age 3.
