Christmas gift for a 6-year-old: a whole town to build and colour
Six and seven-year-olds can assemble bigger sets, colour more precisely and stay with a game for a long time. Give them a wooden town, and it quickly turns into roads across the living room floor, cars that need filling up and a fire that has to be put out.
Crateit Town and Crateit Roomies are recommended for ages 5-9. Everything comes in uncoloured wood, so the child decides the colours, and the parts click together without glue or tools.
Start with the Fire Station
The Fire Station has 72 pieces and 3 wooden vehicles and measures 60 × 28 cm assembled. The children take turns being the fire engine and the helicopter and make up the rules themselves.
Roads, a mountain and a gas station
Around The Mountain is a mountain road with 35 pieces and 2 wooden cars, 80 × 85 cm assembled. The City Gas Station has 32 pieces and a car and measures 65 × 95 cm. With the Adventure Track Extension (19 pieces and 4 road connectors) you join the roads to the rest of the town and make it bigger.
Garages and cars
Vista Villa and Crossroad Cottage are small wooden garages of 20 × 18 cm where the cars can take a break. Thunder Truck and the bus are wooden cars of 3 pieces that fit nicely in a stocking.
For the child who would rather furnish
Crateit Roomies are wooden dollhouses where every set is two rooms across two floors, with furniture and a figure in the box. Couch & Crayons has a living room and a playroom, Emma and a rocking horse (145 pieces, 52 cm tall). Breakfast in Bed has a kitchen and a bedroom and Camilla (152 pieces, 52 cm tall). The Bubble Nest has a bathroom and a bedroom with a slide and a skateboard, and Max (78 pieces). The Cloud Office has an office and a balcony, and Thomas (94 pieces, 38 cm tall). Every room can get its own colour.
Roomies can be combined with Crateit Town, so the dollhouse stands in the middle of the town.
Markers: the most important extra
Everything comes uncoloured, so put a set of Crateit markers next to the gift. The markers go on layer by layer, so the town can get new colours when the child has new ideas.
