How it works

Four steps, and the rest is up to your child

The set arrives in bare wood, so you are the ones who give it colour. There is no right order and no right ending.

  1. 1

    Build

The included assembly guide shows the way. The pieces click together without glue or tools.

  2. 2

    Colour

Everything arrives in bare wood. Your child picks every colour, and there are no wrong choices.

  3. 3

    Play

No screen, no batteries and no right way to do it. The play finds its own direction.

  4. 4

    Recolour

The markers cover the old layer. The same toy can become a new story as often as you like.

What we get asked most.

Do we assemble it ourselves?

Yes, and that is part of the fun. The pieces click together without glue or tools, and the building instructions take you through it step by step. The set is meant to be assembled together with an adult.

What is in the two rooms?

The desk is ready with a computer and keyboard, and the bookcase is full. The office is where Thomas gets the day's work done. The balcony is for the breaks you take when work has gone on long enough. Two armchairs under the parasol, a table for the coffee, and a floor laid in herringbone.

Can we recolour it?

Yes. The house arrives uncoloured, and you can colour over it again and again with Crateit markers. The pigment settles in layers, so you can give the house a new story as often as you like.

Which marker collection should we choose?

It depends on what your child is into. Playful is the most classic choice. Nature and Forest give earth tones, and Pastel and Wonderland give more imaginative worlds.

Should we choose 1mm or 3mm?

1mm is for details like patterns, signs and small stamps. 3mm is for colouring whole surfaces such as walls and roof. Most people start with 3mm and add 1mm when the child starts drawing more precisely.

Can we build on with the other Roomies sets?

Yes. All four Roomies sets are 52 cm tall and 24 cm deep, so the houses can stand side by side as a larger home. The family grows with every set: Max in The Bubble Nest, Emma in Couch & Crayons and Camilla in Breakfast in Bed.

What if a piece breaks?

Write to us at support@crateit.dk. We will find a solution together.

Is it safe for younger siblings?

The set is tested and certified to EN71 and is suitable from age 3. We recommend ages 5-9, where the child gets the most out of the whole set: the role play, the assembly and the colouring. Children under three should play under supervision.

Where is it made?

In Denmark. The set is made at sheltered Danish workshops, where adults with special needs handle assembly and packing. Every set carries a story of craft, care and community.

A wooden dollhouse with a home office and a balcony.

The Cloud Office is the shallowest of the four Crateit Roomies houses: a home office and a balcony across two floors, 94 pieces, designed and made in Denmark.

A house that starts out blank

The house arrives in uncoloured MDF. That is not a shortcoming, it is the whole idea: the child decides what colour each room gets, and whether the roof gets a pattern. With Crateit markers the colour goes on in layers, so the house can be recoloured again and again.

Two rooms: office and balcony

The desk is ready with a computer and keyboard, and the bookcase is full. The office is where Thomas gets the day's work done. The balcony is for the breaks you take when work has gone on long enough. Two armchairs under the parasol, a table for the coffee, and a floor laid in herringbone.

Assembled together, not for the child

The 94 pieces click together without glue or tools. The instructions break the house into steps, so it is a job for child and adult together. Afterwards the house can be moved around the room without falling apart.

The Roomies family grows

Thomas, dad in the Roomies family moves in here. The other houses in the series are The Bubble Nest, Couch & Crayons, Breakfast in Bed. All four houses are 52 cm tall and 24 cm deep, so they can stand side by side.
