When Crateit was founded in 2021 by Martin and Tonny, the vision was clear: to create a piece of wooden toys that not only entertains but actively stimulates children's cognitive development through play. At the same time, it was essential that the production was responsible – not only towards the environment but just as much towards the people involved in it.
But what does it mean to create a responsible production?
For Martin and Tonny, it means taking real responsibility for the people behind the product, while also developing something that contributes positively to future generations. A production where humanity, respect, quality, and care are at the center.
That is why they chose a path that many companies would not take:
To allow people with special needs to handle the production.
A decision that is rooted in respect and love for people who face life with a different kind of vulnerability – and strength.
Affected by personal experience
Martin's sister-in-law, Cecilie, lives with a rare chromosomal disorder that makes her life path different – filled with challenges, but also a unique warmth and joy for life. Tonny grew up with a mother who worked in nursing homes and sheltered workshops – and from a young age, he developed a deep connection to people with special needs. Both have had close relationships throughout their lives with people whose challenges have left a lasting mark on their hearts. People who see the world in their own unique and inspiring way.
The insight and life experience have become a part of Crateit's DNA.
At Crateit, there is room for everyone – regardless of the challenges life has given them. We develop toys that give children ownership and pride in what they have created themselves. At the same time, we help build identity and joy in the work for adults who have often been excluded from the labor market.
On a mission to change the world
Crateit is about seeing the whole person – both in play and production. Our toys are designed to stimulate children's curiosity, improve fine motor skills, and boost their confidence as they see something take shape in their own hands. By giving children the opportunity to build and color their own toys, we strengthen their independence and creative self-confidence.
We aim to be global leaders in how the world thinks about socially responsible production – and to do something that has never been done before.

Our ambition is to build an international brand that combines creative play with local, socially responsible production – in Denmark and around the world.

We want to demonstrate that it is possible to create a sustainable business where both children and adults thrive – in Denmark and around the world.
Mission
We create wooden toys that promote children's imagination and cognitive development – and we do it together with people who are often overlooked in the labor market. Through creative play and meaningful employment, we build identity, community, and pride together with special and unique individuals, one toy at a time - For alone we can do a little, but together we can do everything
