How it works

Four steps, and the rest is up to your child

The set arrives in bare wood, so you are the ones who give it colour. There is no right order and no right ending.

  1. 1

    Build

The included assembly guide shows the way. The pieces click together without glue or tools.

  2. 2

    Colour

Everything arrives in bare wood. Your child picks every colour, and there are no wrong choices.

  3. 3

    Play

No screen, no batteries and no right way to do it. The play finds its own direction.

  4. 4

    Recolour

The markers cover the old layer. The same toy can become a new story as often as you like.

Crateit Town · The Fire Station

A fire station ready to roll out.

Every Crateit Town fire station is made to be coloured on, again and again. The building becomes part of the play, and it can be changed as often as the child draws on it.

Chapter I · A toy that is never finished
Pige tegner med tusch på vejpladen ved siden af en farvelagt brandstation i træ fra Crateit

A new layer on top of the last. The fire station changes along with the child.

INever finished

You can colour over it, again and again.

Crateit markers are made to settle as layer upon layer. When the mood changes, the colours change. The day the fire station has to be blue, it is blue. Next summer it can be green with red details.

It means the first stroke is not a final decision. It is just the first. The fire station keeps developing for as long as your child wants to draw on it.

— The idea

No buttons. No app. No sound. Just a fire station, a ladder and a whole afternoon that disappears.

Chapter II · Role play without a script
Ufarvet brandbil og helikopter i træ fra Crateit Fire Station på et stuegulv

The ladder extends, the helicopter flies, and behind it all there is always a fire to put out.

IIFree play

Fire engines without a screen, rules or batteries.

The children take turns being the fire engine and the helicopter. They make up the rules themselves, and without thinking about it they practise negotiation, storytelling and empathy.

It is the kind of play that starts at breakfast and is still flying at lunchtime.

Chapter III · Craft and durability
The fire station

The fire engine rolls properly, and the joints click precisely together without glue.

IIIMaterial

Made for small hands. Built to last.

The pieces click precisely together without glue, so the fire station can be taken apart and built again.

Chapter IV · Part of Crateit Town
The fire station

When more buildings move in, the town starts to take on a life of its own.

IVThe universe

A fire station is not a whole town.

Add the other buildings, road pieces and vehicles from Crateit Town, and the children start building their own town. The roads fit across the sets, and every new building opens up new imaginative play.

Chapter V · The markers

The markers that let you start over.

We make our own markers. Five colour families, two nib sizes. The pigment is developed to be laid in layers, so you can colour over, update and transform the fire station as often as you like.

What we get asked most.

Do I assemble it myself?

The fire station assembles without glue or tools. The pieces click together. Most parents are done in 20-40 minutes, and it is a pleasant job to do together with the child.

Can we recolour it?

Yes. You can always colour over it again and again with Crateit markers. The acrylic pigment settles in layers, so you can update the fire station as often as you like.

Which marker collection should we choose?

It depends on what your child is into. Playful is the most classic choice for a building. Nature and Forest suit earth tones. Pastel and Wonderland give more imaginative worlds.

Should we choose 1mm or 3mm?

1mm is for details like signs, names and small stamps. 3mm is for colouring whole surfaces such as facades and roofs. Most people choose 3mm first and add 1mm when the child starts drawing more precisely.

What if a piece breaks?

Write to us at hej@crateit.toys. We will find a solution together.

Does it fit the other Crateit sets?

Yes. All Crateit Town buildings and road pieces are designed to fit together.

Is it safe for younger siblings?

The building is suitable from age 3. We recommend ages 5-9, where the child gets the most out of the whole set: the role play, the assembly and the colouring. Children under three should play under supervision.

The fire station in wood - a building set that grows with your child.

The Crateit Town Fire Station is a wooden toy in quality MDF, designed and made in Denmark. A building set that invites role play, creative colouring and endless adventures.

A wooden toy with character

The fire station is built from MDF. A wooden toy you can safely keep in the child's room every day, and one that stands up to daily play.

The fire engine rolls properly, the helicopter's rotor turns, and the joints click precisely together without glue or tools.

Helicopter, fire engine and motorcycle

The set contains a complete fire station with room for a helicopter and a fire engine. Every vehicle is its own little wooden toy, with details that come out as your child colours them in. Road pieces are included, so the fire engine can drive all the way to the scene.

Designed and made in Denmark

The fire station is developed in Odense and made at sheltered Danish workshops where adults with special needs handle assembly and packing. Every set carries a story of craft, care and community, and is tested to the EN71 standard for toy safety.

Coloured with Crateit markers

The fire station arrives uncoloured and is ready to be coloured up with our own Crateit markers. The acrylic pigment settles layer upon layer, so you can colour the facade red today and blue next year. See the whole marker collection with five colour families and two nib sizes.

Part of Crateit Town

The fire station fits together with the rest of the Crateit Townuniverse. Let the fire engine visit the police station, head over the drawbridge or pass by the petrol station. The road pieces click together across every set.

A fire toy without batteries

No sounds, no lights, no apps. The fire station runs on imagination and role play. The children take turns being firefighters and townspeople, invent the stories themselves, and without thinking about it they practise fine motor skills, language and social play. Recommended from 3 years - a pleasant assembly job for the whole family.
