Christmas gift for a child who has everything: give something that is not finished
When a child already has a lot of toys, one more finished item is easy to forget. Then it is better to give something the child has to do something with. A Crateit set comes in uncoloured wood, the parts click together without glue or tools, and the child decides the colours.
Here are four reasons why it suits children who have most things.
1. It can be coloured over again
Crateit markers go on layer by layer, so the set can get new colours when the child changes mood or story. The same set is therefore never quite the same twice. Read how to colour wooden toys with markers.
2. There is no answer key
A set without one right way to play stays new. This is called open-ended play, and we have written about what open-ended play is. The child makes the rules, and they are rarely the same as yesterday.
3. It can be added to
Crateit Town is made so you can keep building, set by set, and Crateit Roomies can be combined with Town. If you start with City Park Zone (40 pieces and three cars, 67 × 67 cm assembled), the next gift can be a building, a road extension or a dollhouse. Read toys that grow with the child.
4. It is something to do together
A set that has to be built and coloured gives a reason to sit down together, and the assembly guide is included. If there is already too much in the children's room, we have written about how to rotate the toys.
How to choose
- The child who loves building towns: City Park Zone or Rule the Roundabout.
- The child who loves furnishing: Couch & Crayons or The Bubble Nest.
- Something small to start with: Bus Adventures (DKK 49) and a set of markers.

Frequently asked questions
What do you give a child who has everything?
Give something that is not finished when it is unwrapped. Crateit comes in uncoloured wood, and the child builds, colours and can colour over again. A set in Crateit Town can also be followed by more sets later.
What age are the sets for?
Crateit Town and Crateit Roomies are recommended for ages 5-9 and suitable from age 3. The other sets, for example the dinosaurs in Quest and the unicorns in Stella, have their own age shown on the product page.
Can Town and Roomies be used together?
Yes. Roomies can be combined with Crateit Town, so the dollhouse becomes part of a whole town.
Do we need markers?
Yes, the sets come in uncoloured wood. Crateit markers go on layer by layer, so you can colour over them again when the play changes.
When should we order before Christmas?
We ship from our own warehouse in Odense with GLS, and delivery takes 1-3 working days. For delivery in Denmark before Christmas, order by Thursday 17 December.
Can we return the gift?
Yes, there is a 14-day right of return.
